THE CONSTITUTION OF
                      THE IREDELL COUNTY YOUNG ATHLETE'S ASSOCIATION
                                                              (ICYAA)
                                                                                                                                                                                 
                                                                                                                                                              ARTICLE I
:    NAME AND PURPOSE
Section 1:     The name of this organization shall be the Iredell County Young Athletes Association.
Section 2:      Purpose
(a)      To sponsor and develop education, athletics, sportsmanship and competition for the many
rather than the few.

ARTICLE II:     MEMBERSHIP
Section 1:      Conferences
(a)      The Association shall consist of one conference, namely, North Iredell County Young Athlete’s
Association. Other Associations may be added upon approval of the Board of Directors.
(b)      Member teams will follow geographic school boundaries as outlined by present school
policies. Players must reside in the district or attend that particular school. Overflow participants and
their release can be arranged between directors of districts
involved.                                                                                                                                                                  
(c)    Each team of charter members will to put $25.00 into the treasury annually

ARTICLE III:    OFFICERS
Section 1:    The officers of the Association shall be President, Vice President - Football, Vice
President - Basketball, Vice President - Track, Vice President - Cheerleading, Secretary and
Treasurer. They will be known as the  Executive Committee.
Section 2:     The term of office of each officer shall be one year, one being chosen annually at the
June meeting.
Section 3:     The election of office shall be at the annual meeting of the Association.
Section 4:      In the event of a vacancy in the office of President, a Vice President selected by the
executive committee shall complete the unexpired term. A vacancy in the office of Vice-President,
Secretary or Treasurer shall be filled by the Board of Directors.
Section 5:    The Board of Directors shall consist of a minimum of 18 members, at least three members
will represent the six teams in the conference. Their term of office shall be continuous or until the
member can no longer serve on the Board. They then will recruit one interested person to represent
their team. If this is not accomplished, it will rest with the entire board of officers to seek a
replacement.
Section 6: Remuneration
(a)    No officer shall receive any remuneration for their services.                        
(b)   The Treasurer shall have authority to pay all expenses incurred by the Association.
(c)    The Treasurer’s books shall be audited at the annual meeting by an auditing committee.

ARTICLE IV - OPERATION AND CONTROL
Section 1:   Control
(a)   The general control of the Association shall be vested in the Board of Directors.
(b)   Two thirds of the members shall constitute a quorum of the Association Meetings.
Section 2: Duties
(a)   It is the duty of the President to preside at the Annual Meeting, and at other meetings as may be
necessary.
(b)   It is the duty of the Vice President to carry out the following for their sport:
(1) Publish schedules in all sports and accompanying letter to parents.
(2) Coordinate publicity with local media.
(3) Rule on all complaints, protests, and agreements that occur in each sport    (Subject to review by
Board of Directors)
(4) Maintain officials with list of games and places to be played.
(5) Secure and maintain officials including referees, time-keeper and
scorekeeper.                                                                                                                                                  
(c)   It is the duty of the Secretary to record minutes of all meetings and the following additional
duties: All awards, to include certificates, all-conference awards, certificates and any other awards
given by the
association.                                                                                                                                           
(d)   It is the duty of the Treasurer to maintain all financial records of the association and the following
additional duties: To establish gate and concessions for each game in all sports. Pay all debts
incurred by the association. File necessary tax forms. Make all deposits of cash received.                     
(e)   It is the duty of each Board of Directors to insure that his team has the following:
(1) Team in each activity that the Association shall participate.
(2) Insure that each team is well equipped.
(3) Insure that each team has good and adequate coaching.
(4) Organize a local team committee of men and women to assist with teams. The Board of Directors
or one of the local committee members shall be at each activity that the team participates in order to
help insure that the rules of the Association are not violated.

ARTICLE V - MEETINGS

Section 1:   Annual Meeting
(a)  The meetings of the Iredell County Young Athletes Association shall be on the first Monday of
each month at 7:00 p.m. at North Iredell High School in the library. The Board of Directors and Officers
shall not miss over 2 meetings per year in order to keep seats on Board of Directors.
Section
2:                                                                                                                                                                             
(a)  There shall conference meetings, schedule meetings, Association meetings at a date, time and
place set by the Board of Directors.
(b)  At all meetings each member of the Association shall have one vote per team.

ARTICLE VI- SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES

Section 1: Sports
(a)  The Association shall sponsor contests in the sports of football, cheerleading, girls volleyball,
boys and girls basketball, and boys and girls track.

ARTICLE VII- AMENDMENTS

Section 1:  This constitution may be added to, altered, amended, or repealed by a two-thirds vote of
the Board of Directors at any monthly meeting.
