Robin Harvey called meeting to order.
Ø No minutes were given. Secretary Mike Bowman could not attend the meeting.
Ø Treasurer, Connie Morrison
presented the treasurers report. The ending balance was $1,007.96. No discussion. Kevin Horton (Cool Spring) made a motion to
accept the report as given. Second, Paul Allison (Union
Grove). Motion passed.
Ø Jennifer Summers spoke about
“Girls on the Run of Iredell”. This program is designed for young girls grades 3-8. There is a group from Harmony, Cool
Spring, and Northview/Ebenezer. They train the girls in running and also in making good life choices. They meet after school
for practice. Coaches are needed in other areas and
they offer classes for the coaches as well. This is a national program.
Ø Football – Todd Austin
discussed that he had spoken with Director James Lett and they hoped to meet in
the next 2 months with the coaches to finalize next year’s rules changes. Robin
Harvey discussed that he planned to complete an inventory to the Harmony
football equipment and see what will be needed for
next season. He is planning a March 2008 meeting with the Harmony parents and
possible coaches.
Ø Basketball – Robin Harvey
discussed that the season is ½ over. Due to conflicts with the gym, the new gym
will be used for several weeks. Concessions will have
to be moved. There may be 2
regular season playoff games needed at the end of the last regular season
games. These are needed to determine 1st place regular season
champions. He also advised that all other seeding will be determined based on
points allowed and he has begun the process of adding
up those totals. He recommended everyone review those totals. Dating back to
the Christmas Tournament and ending with the Season Tournament, the ICYAA will
host 228 games at a cost of $15,940.00
Ø Track – Harry Myers – ICYAA
director offered dates for the upcoming season. April 30th, May 4th, May 9th (Friday Night Meet) and
May 18th (Metal Meet). Practice may begin the 2nd week of
April. Possible coaches for each team were discussed.
He plans to again host a Coaching Clinic this year.
This will be mandatory. Valerie York requested that all paperwork be turned in
(to her) by April 21st. The board agreed to
make this a due date and coaches will be required to submit their forms by that
date. Sign-ups can be completed online and tables will be set up in the gyms
during the last couple weeks of basketball for signs
ups. Paul Allison made a motion to allow Harry Myers to purchase a new High
Jump bar. Kevin Horton – second. Motion passed.
